What does KAHF accreditation assess?
KAHF assesses foreign-patient services and patient-safety systems at registered institutions seeking this accreditation.
Registration, domestic accreditation and KAHF each have a different role. A KAHF claim needs its own scheme, institution and date check.

What is the purpose of KAHF accreditation?
The scheme supports foreign-patient services by assessing registered recruitment medical institutions.
KOIHA and MedicalKorea describe KAHF as an assessment of a foreign-patient service system and a patient-safety system. The legal basis is Article 14 of the overseas healthcare and foreign-patient legislation. The scheme’s name should remain attached to any claim so that it is distinguished from ordinary recruitment registration.
The law provides for evaluation and accreditation of recruitment institutions, while the KAHF medical-institution explanation describes the scheme relevant to hospitals and clinics. Read the applicant category and record title together. A registration record for a recruitment business cannot be substituted for the treating medical institution’s KAHF result.
An assessment framework describes what the scheme examines. A named institution’s result must still be matched to its own award. Keep the general explanation separate from any claim about that institution’s individual findings.
Who can apply for KAHF accreditation?
Registered recruitment medical institutions may apply, with a domestic-accreditation condition for hospital-level applicants.
The official explanations identify institutions registered under Article 6 that wish to obtain KAHF accreditation. This is an additional assessment choice within the registered population. A medical institution’s registration and its KAHF application therefore describe separate points that can be checked separately.
For hospital-level institutions, the explanations require domestic healthcare accreditation, including conditional accreditation. They also state that the patient-safety part of the KAHF survey is exempted in that case. Read the two statements together: the prior domestic award is an application condition and affects the survey scope; it does not make every domestic award a KAHF award.
The domestic certificate used for a hospital-level application retains its own term and result. A KAHF record should not overwrite those fields; the two records show a procedural relationship while remaining separate awards.
Which foreign-patient services does KAHF accreditation examine?
The foreign-patient system includes recruitment operations, specialist staffing, patient rights and dispute prevention.
These domains explain why the mark belongs to a foreign-patient service scheme. They concern how an institution organizes the relevant services and respects patient rights. They are not a quoted package of services promised to every patient, so an individual’s arrangements still need to be read in that patient’s own treatment documentation.
Specialist staffing is also mentioned in recruitment-registration requirements, but its appearance in both places does not collapse registration and assessment into one record. The registration document addresses the statutory entry requirements; the KAHF result belongs to the assessment system. Preserve the scheme name when describing which source supports a statement.
The official domains include respect for patient rights and prevention of medical disputes. That wording describes an institutional system, not the resolution of a particular patient’s dispute or the result of a treatment contract.
| System | Topics named by the official explanation |
|---|---|
| Foreign-patient system | Recruitment operations; specialists and care; patient rights and dispute prevention |
| Patient-safety system | Safety activities; care; medication; infection; facilities and environment |
How is patient safety included in KAHF accreditation?
The patient-safety system names safety activities, patient care, medication, infection control and the care environment.
The official domains identify what the assessment is designed to examine. Their presence in a framework should not be rewritten as a finding about every item at a particular institution. A claim about an institution’s individual findings needs its own assessment result, not just the public list of domains.
The hospital-level survey exemption must also be respected when interpreting a KAHF claim. The official explanation connects that exemption to prior domestic accreditation. It is therefore useful to keep the domestic certificate and the KAHF record as distinct documents, each retaining its grade and dates instead of describing the two as one undated safety badge.
Medication, infection and facilities are named as separate assessment areas. Do not combine them into a new safety score or infer that a brochure’s short statement reproduces every assessment finding in those areas.
Who performs KAHF accreditation work?
MOHW grants accreditation, KHIDI handles review and KOIHA conducts the institutional survey.
Different questions can therefore belong to different parts of the process. The institution’s survey arrangements concern the assessment body, while questions about the overall scheme and review concern the institutions named in that part of the explanation. Use the role stated by the source when identifying an official contact.
An application, an onsite survey, review and publication of a result are different stages. A brochure referring to an application does not supply the later accreditation decision. When a final award is claimed, look for the relevant institution and result rather than upgrading an earlier-stage notice into an award.
A role-specific enquiry should identify the stage and document. Naming the survey, review or final award allows a question to remain connected to the body responsible for that stage rather than assuming all notices have the same status.
| Body | Role | Record to identify |
|---|---|---|
| MOHW | Accreditation | Award or published result |
| KHIDI | Review and scheme operation | Review/result information |
| KOIHA | Survey | Assessment and survey scope |
How are KAHF accreditation dates linked to registration?
Article 14 sets 4-year and 1-year terms and also provides deemed renewal of recruitment registration.
Under paragraph 4, a conditional award loses effect if reaccreditation is not obtained through the evaluation procedure within its term. Paragraph 5 treats the award date of accreditation, conditional accreditation or reaccreditation as the date recruitment registration is renewed. The associated record needs to be read after that event.
The second sentence of paragraph 5 limits the registration period to the accreditation term, excluding conditional accreditation from that ceiling. It should not be omitted when reading the connection. A tool that merely adds the ordinary three-year registration interval to an old starting date cannot resolve these circumstances or substitute for the updated registration document.
The KAHF award date and the registration record after deemed renewal describe connected but distinct matters. Retain both records when the relationship is relevant, including the grade that determines how the conditional provisions are read.
Where should a KAHF accreditation claim be checked?
Use MedicalKorea’s KAHF lookup and compare the institution identity; clarify missing certificate details with the issuer.
KOIHA’s KAHF explanation links to a separate MedicalKorea directory and describes the responsible bodies. The recruitment-information system also provides a KAHF institution lookup. Read the institution name, type and location before connecting the result to the brochure; the similar name of another facility is not enough.
The public lookup inspected for this guide did not state certificate grades or validity dates in its result fields. That limits what those fields establish. If the dates matter to a planned visit, obtain the stated certificate period and any later result from the relevant body rather than filling the gap with a general duration rule.
A source status such as maintained is retained in its own field. Without stated certificate dates and a matched award, that status label cannot be promoted into an independent finding that every accreditation condition remains satisfied.
